Santa Barbara SKY FC has acquired the franchise rights to compete in the USL Championship. There will be no transfer of staff, players, infrastructure, or contracts.

We are a deeply rooted football community that has shown tremendous early support for SKY FC. We quickly realized the social, economic, and cultural impact professional football will bring to the Central Coast. Our geographic location is ideal spanning 60 miles to the north, east, and south drawing from a large, diverse population that is eager for professional football. SKY FC was originally set to play in USL League One, however, on November 13, 2025, we announced that SKY FC will be playing in the USL Championship instead. This decision was a multifaceted one, starting with our multi-year partnership with UCSB that provides a world class 17,000 football specific stadium boasting natural grass fields, close to pitch seating, and a wide range of other football specific amenities.Other factors include our geographic location, an eager and engaged large fan base, social & economic impact, as well as the ability for us to engage in regional rivalries.  

Championship is the highest level of professional men’s football in the USL, sanctioned by the US Soccer Federation as a Division II league. League One is a Division III league. For more information click here.

Currently, there are 24 teams split geographically throughout the United States. In 2025, Lexington Sporting Club will kick off its first season in Championship. Santa Barbara & Jacksonville will kick off in 2026.USL

Moore is establishing SKY FC as a major football hub ahead of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup and FIFA’S 2026 World Cup, both in the US. He is envisioning a team that reflects the diverse cultural makeup of California’s Central Coast and embraces a European-South American football-style, independent business model on ode to the Central Coast - a place he calls home.

Our home stadium will be at UCSB’s Harder stadium. Harder is a world-class 17,000-seat soccer specific stadium boasting natural grass fields, close to pitch seating, and a wide range of other soccer-specific amenities. Our highly educated football community recognizes the immense impact that our football-only venue creates for our players, fans, and the community at large. With our decision to commence Championship play in 2026, SKY FC will be contributing a significant capital investment to Harder stadium to further enhance the professional soccer experience.

Yes! We have a multi-year agreement and partnership with UCSB regents to play at Harder Stadium. Leading up to March 2026, SKY FC will provide a significant capital contribution that will concentrate on critical infrastructure improvements. This investment will not only enhance the stadium’s capabilities, but will further align with SKY FC’s long-term vision for the inaugural men’s team. This collaboration positions the club as a pillar of community engagement and ensures an unmatched professional football entertainment experience for both residents and visitors alike.

We are currently accepting season ticket deposits for the 2026 season. By placing a season ticket deposit you will secure your ‘virtual place in line’ so that once season tickets become available, you will have first choice at seat selection. We will have a variety of ticket options available that ensure the matches are affordable and attainable for everyone, including sections specific for supporters, youth football teams, and students. Our home stadium will have tiered seating levels with options including, but not limited to: general admission, premium seats, supporters section, family section, behind the goal fan zone, corporate, birthday, and VIP. 

With our multi-year partnership at UCSB’s Harder stadium, we are not currently pursuing a formal club-owned stadium. As we commence play in March 2026, our capital improvements into Harder Stadium will be completed, providing the facility everything necessary to elevate and deliver a premium professional football experience.

The $25 season ticket deposit places you in a “virtual place in line” and provides you priority seating when season tickets become available.
